About
Mathematics Education Research Group of Australasia (MERGA) is a professional association that aims to:
- promote, share, disseminate, and co-operate on quality research on mathematics education for all levels particularly in Australasia;
- to provide permanent means for sharing of research results and concerns among all members through regular publications and conferences;
- to seek means of implementing research findings at all decision levels to the teaching of mathematics and to the preparation of teachers of mathematics; and
- to maintain liaison with other organisations with similar interests in mathematics education or educational research.
This review is the sixth in a series of 4-yearly reviews commissioned by MERGA. It provides a critical review of mathematics education research published or presented in the period 2000-2003 by Australasian mathematics education researchers or of particular relevance to Australasia. The primary purpose of this critique of the research is to highlight significant findings, demonstrate links between research, identify trends and foreshadow future research directions.
