This is a tender collection of graceful haiku, ever hopeful in their sadness and their joy.
Jeffrey Harpeng.
John has developed his own style and voice over the years and while we have perhaps been discussing and arguing which way is the 'right' way to write haiku, he has unassumedly produced glimpses of life, of characters; and his own understanding of nature as our environment, and nature as we humans live, love and react to that environment. He has also brought the beauty of haiku to English language poetry with his award winning poem:

now the wild geese are calling
