"He has a sharp eye for the minutiae of relationships..."
Bruce Dawe.
"Any poet who can write a love poem today -- a straight love poem -- and make it work -- deserves our admiration. Collins does just that."

The Diamond Necklace on a Girl I Met
(for Sharon)From the area between right shoulder
and right breast, a breast heaving with
each sigh like chiffon curtains pulsing,
a shine of light, talking with each motion,
sparkling the air, talking mythology with
my eyes, mythology of woman, femininity,
shining little triangles, rectangles, cubes
of light, painting my eyes clear of all thought,
making the physical heavings of that breast,
below the soft shoulder, part of me, making
me feel the beauty, little lights caressing
my face, directly at me and her voice is an
echo tickling the walls, tickling the walls
as my eyes close, close in eyelid darkness.
