The many layers of thought and exploration in this volume are cleverly interwoven by a poet of playful and significant imaginative power. eluned lloyd's tapestry of poems, Myrddin's Needle, combines the strands of past and present and the common thread of the poet's Welsh Ancestry. Like Myrddin or Merlin, the seer of the title poem, the poet is able to look back and forward, and out of that gift create the new, like magic.

The world of eluned lloyd encompasses the resources of myth and ritual; a passionately involved quest of both outer and inner landscapes which interact with each other like the primal sea and the emerging earth. Her poetic energies relate her work to Dylan Thomas on the one hand and Sylvia Plath on the other.
