"Eric Beach's poetry uses the patterning of traditional forms such as sonnets and villanelles, jazz and blues, but extends his poems through a spectrum of patterning of meanings and emotions, conversational language such as 'talkback radio', multinational languages such as 'I'd like to multicultural your acquaintance', and monologues such as the toddler in '3 year-old blues' and 'I'm th' man who talks to trees'.

This is a handbook not only of poetry, but of the possibilities of how poetry can be written and understood.
