About

"From her witty take on post-modern real estate to her loved friend's asthma 'growling its animal notes', Morgan's poems show the intensity of language and insight alike... While this poet doesn't shy from difficulty, there's much to enjoy and savour in the language. The intellectual and the physical worlds interleave in a satisfying way: ideas and images ripple across each other and take on new forms."

Circe to Odysseus

The old ones feared that
if the drowned
were laid in the churchyard
the sea would rise and claim
the living with its dead
-- so they took bodies that washed up
and buried them on the shore
between the tides

and there I walk, thinking of you:
a shellfish prised
from one bed, replaced in another,
still living by the rhythm of
the old tide, opening in time
for its fluid embrace,
closing in the wash
of disappointment.
